Reel 01Most videos lose people in the first three seconds. That’s where the edit starts, and it doesn’t let go until the last frame.

How the edit gets made
Hook
The first three seconds decide whether the other three minutes get watched. Everything before the hook is negotiable.
01Rhythm
Pacing is a pulse. Cut against it and an audience feels the wrongness before they can name it.
02Story
Footage is raw material. Order is the story. Most fixes happen on the timeline, not in the shoot.
03Sound
Half of what people call high quality is what they're hearing. Mix, room tone, music that sits under a voice instead of on it.
04Motion
Graphics should move like they have weight. Nothing appears by accident and nothing arrives late.
05Retention
Every cut answers one question: is there a reason to stay for the next second? If not, it goes.
06What I cut
Full episodes and features where structure carries the weight. Built for people who publish on a schedule and need the edit to hold up past the first minute.

Working together
Understand
What the content is, who it's for, and what it's supposed to do. Before any footage gets opened.
Build
Structure and pacing first. The rough cut decides whether the video works. Polish can't rescue a bad spine.
Refine
Sound design, colour, motion, graphics, captions. The layer most people feel without noticing.
Deliver
Final masters in the formats you publish in, plus cutdowns and thumbnails if they're in scope.

Portrait 01SajjanVideo Editor
The person
in the edit bay
I’m Mannan Sajjan, a freelance video editor and thumbnail designer based in Faridabad, India. I take raw footage, long recordings and half-formed ideas, and turn them into something people actually finish watching.
The work moves across YouTube, short-form social, podcasts, personal brands, startups, gaming and travel. Different formats, same job: hold attention without wasting anyone’s time. A podcast edit and a nine-second hook need opposite instincts, but the thinking behind them is the same.
I take a small number of projects at a time, which is the only way an edit gets thought about instead of processed. If a cut isn’t doing work, it goes.
